Personal data (eg name, email address) is not stored or
captured through the MUGSS (the Society) website without
the prior knowledge and consent of users. When you
provide this information, you will be asked whether you
wish to receive any further communication from the
Society. We will ensure that all personal data supplied
is held as securely as possible, in accordance with the
Data Protection Act. The Society does not sell or
otherwise transfer personal data to commercial companies
or other organisations outside the University of
Manchester.
Continuous logs are maintained of The Society web
server activity. These log files include the details of
your IP address, browser type, page last visited etc.
Log files are used to analyse usage of The Society
website, and may be kept in an anonymised form for
historical records.
Some parts of The Society website use cookies for security
purposes (eg to save the user from having to re-enter
their details for every page in a section of the site).
Cookies are not used to capture or store personal
information for any other purpose, and all cookies are
deleted as soon as a session is ended unless you explicitly
request otherwise.
If you email us to ask a question, report a fault etc, we
will only use the personal data you provide to reply to
your message. We do not keep this information, or share it
with any other organisation without explicit consent.
Comments on the show submitted to us may be published on
the website in an anonymised form and reused for
promotional purposes.
