Props Master/Mistress has to look through the lib with the Director and
DSM to work out what props are required (bearing in mind that while some
are specified in the lib itself the Director may add some in or take some
out as they choose!). They then have to go and find the required items,
whether that's a banana or sixty medieval axes.
Props master also has to work with Costume Manager and Set Construction
Manager to make sure there aren't crossed wires as to who was meant to be
sorting out the painting on the wall in the second act and the bouquet the
bridesmaid is meant to be holding at the beginning!
Places to look include the MUGSS props store (surprisingly!), fancy
dress/costume shops, Afflecks Palace, asking the company if there's things
we can borrow (part of the job is also returning them at the end of the
show!)
