Sight Lines

Sight Lines

When the audience is looking at the stage, there will be a certain amount of the wings, or space behind or beside the set that they can see. Sight lines are marks made on the floor of the stage to show the actors where the boundary of the audience's vision is. Anything that's on the stage side of the sight line will be visible to at least some of the audience, and anything on the wings side of the line should be hidden. (sometimes refered to as "behind the sight lines") Maskers and Legs are often used to increase the amount of the wings that is behind the sight lines.
