Flat
Flats are wood and canvas panels, used to construct the walls of the set.
Normally constructed as a rectangle of 2 by 2 or 2 by 1 with diagonal cross-
bracing covered with either canvas or hardboard, flats are the main components
of the set. Flats are positioned vertically facing onstage and are painted to
represent the scenery and environ in which the action is occuring.
