For some reason lighting people like to have different names for things.
Therefore what most people call a bulb is in fact a bubble. Possibly
because if you touch it, it may blow up*...
* This is actually true - the grease from your finger causes the
soda glass that the 'bubble' is made from to heat differently to
the rest of the surface and will often distend (expand), causing
the 'bubble' to stop working.
