Fly Weight

In theatres that use a counterbalance system to support fly bars, rather than winches, the fly weights are the metal blocks used to balance the weight of the set on the fly bars. When the set and the weights weigh the same it is very easy to raise and lower the set – making the process of flying in and out easier.

These weights come in a variety of sizes – so that a combination of them can be used to match the weight of the set accurately.
