Manchester Universities' Gilbert and Sullivan Society is a well established, award winning student theatre society with members in the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University. Every year we produce a full scale musical followed by up to two tour dates in the North West. In this, our fifty fifth year, we are producing The Mikado, an operetta by Gilbert and Sullivan, at the RNCM theatre in central Manchester on 14th-17th February. In typical MUGSS fashion, we're giving it an updated twist and performing it Bollywood style!

For our productions, we do everything ourselves from making set and costumes, to promoting the show and providing cast and people to run the production (e.g. stage management) and the theatre during the production itself.

Our recent productions have included a world premier production of Rock Trial, an arrangement of Gilbert and Sullivan's Trial by Jury by a new local artist, which was a sell-out success at the RNCM studio. For Utopia Ltd, we had audiences of over 1500 in a larger capacity venue. MUGSS has a core membership of 70, a mixture of students and graduates, and a wide network of ex-members (mainly in Manchester and London) with a mailing list of around 500.

• Monetary sponsorship – an advert in the Mikado programme or sponsorship of a specific aspect of the show.
• Social discounts – MUGSS has a varied social life; a discount at your establishment would be of great benefit! Another option could be to offer a discount to audience members during the show's run upon on production of a sponsored show ticket/programme - particularly as our opening night this year falls on Valentine's Day!
• Raffle prizes – from a bottle of wine to a meal for two, anything we can place in a raffle to raise money.

Quarter, half or full page advert in our programme
On sale to audience and society members, seen by around 1500 people, a perfect advertising tool for your business or to attract graduate recruits

Specific elements:

All sponsors will receive a pair of complimentary tickets to the show, an advert in the show programme — (also shown on the website throughout the year) and an advert placed prominently on the website. If it is more appropriate for your company to provide a prize or discount to MUGSS and its members, your generosity will be acknowledged with tickets to the show, a strip advert in the show programme, and an advert on the website.
