The Committee

Chair: Chris Price

chair@mugss.org

I first encountered MUGSS by watching one of their shows and realised I really, really wanted to be a singing pirate! I was hooked and the next year signed up to be on stage. It is a great privilege for a student society to perform in a professional opera theatre and, as MUGSS does everything from designing and building the set to singing on stage, I am delighted to be part of the team making it happen for HMS Pinafore in 2012.

Secretaries: Rian Bootle and Lizzy East

secretary@mugss.org

Rian was blackmailed into joining MUGSS when one of her course mates heard her singing to herself in a lab when she thought she was alone. Little did he know that blackmail was unnecessary as she is a huge musical theatre fan. After a short spell in the chorus Rian was in much demand in the crew, due to her amazing ability to do anything that nobody else is good at. This skill is likely to make her a very busy committee member.

Treasurers: Tom Lyall and James Wright

James joined MUGSS with vague knowledge and interest in Gilbert and Sullivan works. What he found was a fantastic world of comedy, wonderful people and, most importantly, plenty of alcohol. Outside of staring at spreadsheets, he studies physics. Other than that James enjoys singing, clubbing, travelling and drinking tea.

Tom joined MUGSS in 2008, though remembering things that happened before (and sometimes since) is something he's finding increasingly difficult. This year Tom returns as holder of the purse-strings, and general crew scapegoat. When not doing MUGSS things he can be found attempting to complete a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Social Secretary: Ian Field

socials@mugss.org

We go to the social because it is there. We stay at stay social because it is there. We leave the social with a sweet sadness and await with glee the next social. Ian joined MUGSS a bit of a while ago and has since then he has appeared in the roles of The Mikado of Japan, Social Secretary and co-director of a very well received Pirates of Penzance (it had an airship, steampunk and a lot of 1980s). At present, Ian is currently reading for a History PhD. In this reprised of the role of Social Secretary Ian hopes to see you at the eclectic mixture of socials he has lined up. Capital, Bully! And whatnot. Over and out.

Ordinary Members: Sam Codd, Liam Edgeley and Joe Rohde

ordmemb@mugss.org

Liam joined MUGSS as a first year student and enjoyed it so much he never left. In his 16 MUGSS shows, Liam has done everything from appearing on stage to designing the set (with more than the occasional stint on the committee). In his spare time Liam is an ICT teacher in a Liverpool secondary school.
