Inspiration comes from strange places
New Zeland in fact. That's where this sheep picture came from, and it formed
the basis of an analysis of sheep proportions for Neville. I can't remember who's
website I raided in the search for good side views of sheep - but whoever you were
I'm very greatful. I think it was something to do with some sheep farming association
or government group - so it's not as dodgy as you're probably thinking.

And it lead to some technical drawing
And from that I sketched out my ideas for the sizes & shapes of the pieces.
Nev was built to just under 1:1 scale, with his proportions slightly mucked
around with for comedy effect. Not that the working drawings look very sheep-like,
since he was built to have some sculpted foam attached around his skeleton.

Construction began in Bristol
Neville's skeleton was cut from wood, according to the designs. And all
by hand as well. If I ever make something like this again, remind me to
buy a jigsaw of some description - it was too much like hard work.

He had electronics as well as wood
Neville incorporated some radio control gear to give him his coarse acting ability.
Parts of it were obtained on the cheap from my mate Andy Lever, and more of it
came from Maplin. Later it ended up in the
hands of the Crew, and especially Denzil.

And then he got covered in fleecy stuff
The fleece was provided, and fitted, by Leda. And what a luxurious coat he had too.
Best quality Batcher's fabric, no doubt.
