Manchester Reunion

Penny Richards writes :
They came, they saw, they ate cake¦

Over 100 people came to the Grand International Reunion on June 2nd 2001 – the sun shone (slightly) and MUGSS members from 1951 to the present day joined in a satisfyingly enthusiastic sing-along and even a dance-along.

We started in true MUGSS fashion (by diving into the food) and after the fab buffet we watched a fabulous collection of videos. Mr. Peter England took over as our MD with the mostest so we could all have a bit of a singsong with some former principals reliving those "Oh, is it me now?" moments and then madness ensued as we all tried to take part in a Dance-Along with three – count them – three directors. There is no truth in the rumours that by the end of the half hour we knew as much of the dance as any MUGSS cast member on the Tuesday night of show week...

Having danced and sung our little exhibitionist hearts out we retired to the seats for a spot of cake (courtesy of Alison Baxter) and a speech by one of the founder members, Mr. Norman Spooner. Then ho skip and away for a group photo to commemorate a truly wonderful day.
